It is almost impossible to grow quality fruit without crop protection; there is however a clear trend to ban broad-spectrum chemicals. As a result it was necessary to switch to a more environment-friendly cultivation in the short term. Crop protection mainly comprises the use of a pesticides to combat a number of important parasites, diseases and pests.
