Dr. Alessio Martinelli is technical director and one of the breeders of CIV, Centro Innovazione Varietale. Dr. Martinelli is biologist with a background in genetics and plant tissue culture. CIV is a R&D company formed by three leading Italian fruit nurseries, Salvi Vivai, Vivai Mazzoni and Tagliani Vivai. CIV is deeply involved in breeding and developing new strawberry varieties for high chill areas, like Clery, Dely, Joly; for low chill areas, and day neutrals (Elsinore®civri30 and several new selections). The focus of the breeding programme is on integrating high quality with stress and disease tolerance and low impact on the environment. |
