Ann Schenk started her career as a project leader integrated fruit production in the Research Station for fruit growing in Wilheminadorp (Netherlands) where she introduced sustainable fruit growing in the early 90's. Since 1997 Ann Schenk is currently project leader and extension specialist at the Flanders Centre of Postharvest Technology (VCBT). The Flanders Centre of Postharvest Technology is a non-profit organization closely linked to the K.U.leuven and the Belgian auctions. Research and extension about the quality and storage of fruits and vegetables is the core business of the VCBT. VCBT has a ISO17025 accreditation for quality measurements on fruits and vegetables, which is unique in Europe. Ann is head of the extension team. An important task of the VCBT is being the link between academic research and practical growers. Therefore VCBT is publishing for growers and auctions. Yearly 30 trade press articles and 12 newsletters are published about various subjects. Ann is also Belgian representative in the International Institute of Refrigeration. |
