Mark Van Aert is a strawberry grower in the Netherlands. He has taken over the family business. His father started the company with an orchard full of apple trees. Since the beginning of 1980, the company proceeded gradually to the cultivation of strawberries. Over the years both he and his younger brother Robert became interested in the cultivation of strawberries.
In 1999 the family decided to expand the company with a resettlement in Nispen. His brother became head of this company while Mark stayed in Zundert to cultivate strawberries there. The companies were split in 2005. At this moment Mark has approximately 26 hectares of land at his disposal.
The strawberry season (May till September) starts with the cultivation in tunnels followed by various plantations in the open field and substrate culture. The season ends again with the cultivation in tunnels.
A part of the propagation of plant material is done by Mark himself. |
